BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff says he will let injured winger Thomas Vanek decide if the star sniper can play in Monday's critical Game Six against the Boston Bruins. The Sabres must beat Boston to keep their season alive.
"He's close now. It's his decision on whether he can play or not," said Ruff about Vanek. "I don't know how he feels."
"Personally I was at a point where I wanted to play the past two [games]," said Vanek, the Sabres top goal scorer. "I don't know. I feel like I'm improving but it's up to Lindy to make that decision [on whether to play]."
Vanek hasn't played since injuring his left ankle/foot in Game Two. He slid awkwardly into the end boards after getting slashed by Boston's Johnny Boychuk.
Game Six is in Boston, Monday night, at 7:00pm.
