Vanek Doubtful for Game 3

July 8, 2010 Updated Jul 8, 2010 at 3:36 PM EDT

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff says winger Thomas Vanek is doubtful for Game 3 against Boston in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series.

Vanek was hurt during the first period of Game 2 when he was slashed by the Bruins' Johnny Boychuk and slid into the end boards. Vanek left the game and did not return. He seemed to be favoring his left ankle/foot as he hobbled off the ice.

The team calls Vanek's injury a "lower-body injury". Ruff adds that the sniper could play again in the series.

Game 3 against the Bruins is scheduled for Monday night, in Boston, at 7:00pm. The series is tied at one game apiece.
