Sabres Fall In Game Two, Vanek Injured!

Buffalo, NY (WKBW.com) Michael Ryder and Zdeno Chara each scored a pair of goals for Boston, as the Bruins beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-3 on Saturday. The best of seven series is now tied 1-1, with game three set for Monday in Boston.

The Sabres also lost forward Thomas Vanek in the setback. Vanek was injured when he was taken down by Johnny Boychuk, and slammed into the boards. He left in the first period, and did not return. The team announced it as a "lower body" injury. Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff didn't have a time frame for a return for Vanek, but did say following the game that he anticipates him making the trip to Boston.

The Sabres jumped out to an early 2-nothing lead on first period goals by Tyler Myers, and Matt Ellis. The Bruins rallied to tie it in the second, before Jason Pominville gave the Sabres at 3-2 lead after two periods.
Ryder and Chara then scored in the third for Boston, before Mark Recchi sealed the deal with an empty net goal.
