MONTREAL, QUEBEC (WKBW) - The Sabres will have to wait until Tuesday to see if they can clinch their first division title in three years and sixth in franchise history. Buffalo had a chance to do just that with a win on Saturday, but they lost in Montreal 3-0.
The Canadiens beat Ryan Miller once in each period. Ryan O'Byrne scored in the first, Tom Pyatt tallied in the second, and Sergei Kostitsyn capped the scoring in the third.
Miller made 35 saves. Jaroslav Halak stopped 29 shots for his second straight shutout.
The Sabres play their final home game of the regular season on Tuesday against the Rangers. Buffalo can clinch the Northeast Division with a win over New York, or an Ottawa loss in Florida. The Senators play the Panthers on Tuesday.
