The Knicks, Heat and Bulls were among the winners on opening day of the 2011-12 NBA season.

New York beat Boston at Madison Square Garden 106-104. Carmelo Anthony scored 37 points for the Knicks.

Miami was victorious over Dallas 105-94. LeBron James dropped 37 points as well in the rematch of last season's NBA Finals.

In Los Angeles, Derrick Rose hit the game-winning shot with four seconds left in regulation to give the Chicago Bulls an 88-87 win over the Lakers.

The NBA's shortened regular season is getting underway on Christmas day because of the league-imposed offseason lockout.
