Buffalo (WKBW.com) For the second year in a row a Western New York product has been selected in the first round of the NBA draft. Last year it was Jonny Flynn, this year it's Traditional product Lazar Hayward. Hayward was selected by the Washington Wizards with the 30th overall pick in Thursday's NBA Draft.
"It's like a blessing in disguise", Hayward told Eyewitness Sports on Thursday night. "I'm very blessed. No one thought I'd be in this spot, no one had me on a draft board. To be in the first round it's a blessing".
Hayward is coming off a fantastic career at Marquette.He led the team as a senior in scoring, rebounds and steals. He spent Thursday with his father in Orchard Park.
