It looks as if one of the world's best amateur hockey tournaments is heading for Buffalo. USA Hockey has scheduled a press conference Monday at HSBC Arena, when it is expected to announce the 2010-2011 World Junior Hockey Championships will be held in Buffalo. The other finalists to host the event were Minneapolis and Grand Forks, ND.

USA Hockey spokesman Dave Fischer would not confirm Buffalo had been awarded the World Juniors, but told 7 Sports reporter Shawn Stepner Friday that no such press conferences were scheduled in Minneapolis or Grand Forks. USA Hockey officials visited Western New York back in September.

The World Junior Championships feature the best 20-and-under players in the World. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Sabres owner B. Thomas Golisano are scheduled to be at Monday's press conference.
