Fredonia native Jennifer Stuczynski won a silver medal in the pole vault at the Olympic Games in Beijing Monday.
Stuczynski cleared 4.80 meters and was assured of finishing no worse than second. Defending Olympic Gold Medalist Elena Isinbayeva cleared 4.85 meters, forcing Stuczynski to try at 4.90 meters, which she failed to clear in four attempts. Isinbayeva went on to set a new world record, clearing 5.05 meters on the way to a second straight gold medal.
