Niagara Falls Loses in Final

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - Tournament MVP Taran Buie scored 15
points to lead Bishop Maginn to a 68-37 victory over Niagara Falls
Sunday in the Class AA final at the New York State Boys High School
Basketball Championships.
James Torres scored 12 points, while Terron Victoria and Shimeek
Johnson added nine points and seven rebounds apiece for the
Griffins (25-1), who led wire-to-wire in the most lopsided win in
the Class AA titles five-year history.
Niagara Falls cut it to 30-24 with 6:14 left to play in the
third quarter, but Bishop Maginn countered with 19-4 run to put to
the game away.
T.J. Crittenden and Rashon Tabb scored eight points apiece to
lead the Wolverines (25-2).
Bishop Maginn, which lost last years title by a 68-65 final to
Mount Vernon, jumped out to a 12-point advantage in the second
quarter before taking a 28-20 lead into the halftime break.
Bishop Maginn, from Albany County, reached the championship with
a 54-52 win over Mount Vernon Saturday.
Niagara Falls, out of Erie County in Section 6, got to the title
with a 66-49 victory against Baldwin Saturday.
