The Williamsville East baseball team is doing something only one other team in its program's history has done.  The Flames are headed to the state final four.

They'll face  Wallkill (Westchester County) on Saturday in the Class A state semifinal matchup in Binghamton.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Union-Endicott High School.

"We are obviously going there to win states," said Flames shortstop Charles Mack.  "We are happy getting there.  That's not the end goal.  The end goal is to win states."

"We're not going [there] just to have fun, just say we made it there," added Flames first baseman Mike Steffan.  "We're going into this weekend to win it all.  That's been our goal the whole season."

The Flames last played in the state final four in 2005.

Williamsville East is one of four Western New York baseball or softball teams still alive for a state championship.  The others include Fredonia baseball, Orchard Park softball and Depew softball.
