St. Joe's takes Game 1 of Georgetown Cup Final 7-5 over St. Mary's of Lancaster

St. Joe’s won the opening game of the Georgetown Cup Final by defeating second seeded St. Mary’s of Lancaster 7-5 at Coca-Cola Field on Monday.

With a victory on Tuesday, the fourth seeded Marauders can secure the title.
Meanwhile the Lancers will have to win Game 2 and force a third game if they hope to capture their first title since 1980.

After a scoreless first inning, St. Joe’s opened the scoring in the top of the second inning with an RBI base knock from Ryan Sutherland to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead.

St. Joe’s added two more in the frame on a fielder’s choice and failed pickoff attempt to open a 3-0 lead.
Trailing 6-1 heading into the fourth inning, St. Mary’s plated three in the inning to close to within 6-4.

First pitch for Game 2 of the series is set for 4 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field.
