Lacrosse: Lancaster, West Seneca East boys advance to the state semifinals

Akron & Hamburg boys, four girls teams fall short

The Far West Regionals on the lacrosse field are over and two area teams are still alive in the hunt for a NYSPHSAA state championship.

The Lancaster and West Seneca East boys teams will play in the state semifinals next week after their wins on Saturday. Below is information from the eight lacrosse games that took place in Buffalo and Rochester.

 

Boys Lacrosse:

*games played at All-High Stadium in Buffalo

In the Class A game, Lancaster beat Penfield 11-7 for the Regional title. Brett Beetow and Ben Napieralski each had three goals in the win. The Legends will take on West Genesee in the state semifinals set for Wednesday, June 6th. The game is scheduled to be played at Cicero-North Syracuse High School with the winner advancing to the State Championship.

Also advancing was West Seneca East who beat Geneva/Waterloo 8-6 in the Class C game. Shaun Dolac had four goals in the win while Danny Flynn added three. The Trojans will play in the state semifinals set for Wednesday, June 6th. The game is scheduled to be played at St. John Fisher with the winner advancing to the State Championship.

In the Class B game Hamburg fell to Victor 15-3, while Akron fell in a 12-11 overtime loss to Penn Yan Academy in the Class D game.

 

Girls Lacrosse:

*games played in Rochester

All four Section VI teams were eliminated in the Far West Regionals. In the Class A game, Penfield beat Lancaster 17-5, in the Class B game Brighton beat Frontier 18-1, in the Class C game Honeoye Falls-Lima beat Lake Shore 12-7, and in the Class D game Palmyra-Macedon beat Eden 17-3.
