When you look at the record wall in the Lockport high school pool, you see Katie Pollock’s name quite a bit.

Seven times to be exact.

"After a while I was doing it just for fun," Pollock said. "I like doing it for the crowd and for my parents and having fun with the sport. It's cool to see my name and say oh I remember that."

Pollock has been making an impact on the Lockport swim team since she joined in middle school.

Now a senior, she’s getting ready to compete at the state competition after dominating at Sectionals.

"I swam the 200 individual medley and I got 1st place and I swam the 100 breaststroke and got first place," she said about her performance.

Katie is no stranger to swimming at States. She’s been doing so since she was in 8th grade and has had a few top five finishes.

She posted a 3rd place finish in the 50 free in 2013, a 4th place finish in the 50 free in 2014 and a 4th and 5th place finish in the 50 and 100 free in 2015.

This year will be a little different as she competes in two different events for the first time.

"This is my first time doing something different and I'm really excited about it," she said. "I just want to see how fast I can go in different events and I'm really excited."

Katie's swim career isn’t done yet.

She’s hoping to keep it up in college and attend the United States Naval Academy.
