After leading Canisius to back-to-back Class A Catholic State championships, Stafford Trueheart, Madut Ayiy and Will Atkinson inked letters of intent to continue their hoops careers in college.

Trueheart, who averaged 20.8 points and 10.5 rebounds for the Crusaders as a senior, will join former Niagara Head Coach Joe Mihalich at Hofstra.

“I felt like I already had a connection with the coach, Joe Mihawlik,” Trueheart said.  “He came from Niagara and a lot of people from Canisius told me he was a great guy, and as soon as I stepped on campus I felt at home."

Ayiy, who was a force in the paint for Canisius throughout its march to a second straight title, averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds and nearly two blocks per game.

He’ll be joining Mike MacDonald at Daemen.

"I see a championship next year.  It’s not just me, it's all of the recruits coming in and the players,” Ayiy said.  “We just work hard. We might be DII but we have a DI work ethic and that's what I really like about the college."

Will Atkinson, who was not in attendance because he’s already attending classes, signed his letter of intent to continue his career at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
