The title is the Crusaders second in three years. They also won the state championship in 2014.
Trailing 44-42 with 17 second remaining and with Canisius lining up for the potential game-winning field goal on 4th and five, Hayes jumped offside giving the Crusaders a new set of downs.
On the first play of their new series, Johnson and Margaritis hooked up from 17-yards out to put Canisius out front.
The Crusaders end the season with a 10-2 overall record.
