Sweet Home wins Class A title

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Quarterback Casey Kacz threw for 246 yards
and touchdown passes of 76 and 39 yards as Sweet Home beat Burnt
Hills 35-28 to take the New York State Public High School Athletic
Association Class A football title on Saturday.
Kacz also ran for a 10-yard score, during his 11 for 15 passing
day.
Sweet Home bolted to a 28-7 lead with 5:31 left in the first
half, but Burnt Hills pulled within seven points twice in the
second half, the final time on Erik Vuillaume's 16-yard TD run with
6:26 left to make the score 35-28.
That was his second TD of the game as his first, a 42-yard run
early in the third quarter pulled the Spartans within 28-21.
Burnt Hills, the Albany-area Section II champions, had a chance
to tie after Zachary Morton blocked a punt, giving the Spartans a
drive start at the Sweet Home 19. But the Panthers' defense
pressured Layton into an incompletion on fourth-and-goal from the 3
with 5:24 left in the quarter.
The Buffalo-area Section VI champs didn't give the Spartans
another possession as they completed a 13-0 season.
