Safety Tim Roberts of the University at Buffalo has been named a semifinalist for the 2017 William V. Campbell Trophy.
The trophy is considered by many as the "Academic Heisman" and regonizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation.
Roberts is a senior safety for the Bulls and rankes fourth on the team in tackles (22). In the classroom, he carries a 3.68 grade point average.
Roberts is one of 181 total semifinalists, one of 71 from the FBS, and one of eight from the Mid-American Conference.
12-14 finalists will be announced on November 1st with the winner receiving a postgraduate scholarship of $25,000.
