James Brnik drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 8th inning to lift Niagara County Community College past #1 ranked Rowan Gloucester 3-1 at the Junior College World Series.

The Thunderwolves advance to Game 2 of the CWS and will play the winner of Montgomery and Northern Essex on at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in North Carolina.

Trailing 1-0 heading into the 8th, the TWolves' Brad Wroblewski tied the game with a sacrifice fly.

Two batters later Brnik stepped to the plate and smoked a double to right center to plate Charles Edwards and give NCCC a 2-1 lead.

They would add another run in the 9th.

MLB prospect Christian Young pitched 8 solid innings, striking out 11 to earn the victory.  Alex Kubra picked up the save, striking out two of the three batters he faced in the final frame.
