BUFFALO, NY – (UB Media Release) A non-conference slate that features seven teams that appeared in the postseason over the past two years highlights the 2011-12 University at Buffalo men’s basketball schedule released on Wednesday.
“This is one of the most ambitious non-conference schedules we have ever played – especially the road games,” head coach Reggie Witherspoon said. We hope that this schedule will have us well prepared for when MAC play starts.”
The Bulls will open the season at home against defending Metro-Atlantic Conference champions St. Peter’s on November 11. The Bulls will next play the last two Ivy League Champions, hosting Cornell on November 16 followed by a game at Princeton on November 19. The Bulls host Canisius on November 22 before closing out the month with a game at Dayton on November 30.
Buffalo will host St. Bonaventure on December 3 followed by a game at Niagara on December 7. On December 10, the Bulls will host Youngstown State before playing at BYU on December 20 and at Temple on December 28.
Buffalo will open Mid-American Conference play on January 7 when it hosts defending MAC champion Kent State at Alumni Arena. It is the first of five straight games against East Divisions foes. The Bulls will host Eastern Michigan on January 24 to kick off six straight games against West Division opponents.
For the eighth straight year, UB will participate in the ESPN BracketBuster. The Bulls will play on the road against a yet-to-be-determined opponent on February 18.
The Bulls will play three of their final four conference games at home, including the regular season finale against Bowling Green on March 3.
The Mid-American Conference Tournament begins on March 5 with campus site games. The remainder of the tournament will be played at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena.
