BUFFALO, NY (WKBW/Release) – For the second time this season, University at Buffalo safety Adam Redden has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week. It marks the fourth straight week a UB player has garnered conference player of the week honors.
Redden led another stellar defensive effort for the Bulls. The junior safety had a game-high 12 tackles, including two for a loss and a half sack. He also recovered a fumble and recorded a pass breakup. Late in the third quarter he made the initial hit that resulted in a safety that extended UB's lead to 18-3. He spearheaded a defense unit that didn't allow a touchdown for the second straight game.
It is the second time this season Redden has been named MAC Defensive Player of the Week. He also took home the honor after the Bulls defeated Connecticut on Sept. 28.
Redden is having a breakout season for the Bulls. The Amherst native and St. Francis grad leads the Bulls with 49 tackles and has 8.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries this season.
