LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) - Charron Fisher scored a career-high 36
points to lead Niagara past Rider 89-77 in Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference action Thursday night.
Niagara (4-2, 1-0 MAAC) sank 10 three-point field goals in the
first half to tie the school record. Fisher sank eight 3-pointers
in the contest.
Niagara's Tyrone Lewis scored 14 points while Stanley Hodge
added 12. Benson Egemonye snared a game-high 12 rebounds and
Anthony Nelson had 10 assists.
Jason Thompson had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Rider (5-4, 0-1
MAAC). His brother, Ryan Thompson, added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Harris Mansell scored 15 points for the Broncs while Lamar Johnson
added 11.
Fisher scored 13 of Niagara's first 22 points as the Purple
Eagles used a 10-0 run to take a 22-8 lead at 11:48.
Rider, which was scoreless for 3:39, then went on a 25-9 run to
take a 33-31 lead when Jason Thompson completed a conventional
three-point play at 4:10.
Niagara went on a 19-1 run after Thompson was whistled for a
foul and a technical foul. The Purple Eagles, who opened the game
with five straight 3's, closed the half with four consecutive 3's
and a 50-34 edge.
