NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – (Niagara University) Niagara women’s basketball head coach Kendra Faustin has received a contract extension announced by Niagara University Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin on Wednesday.
Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"Kendra has made very good progress in rebuilding our women's basketball program,” McLaughlin said. “We want to reward her for the success from last season and ensure that she will continue her success as our head coach."
Faustin led the Purple Eagles to a plus-10 win improvement from the prior season en route to winning their most games (13) in four seasons. Niagara finished the regular season in fifth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for its highest finish since the 2004-05 season and defeated Manhattan in the MAAC Tournament Quarterfinals to advance to its first MAAC Tournament Semifinal since 2005.
Under Faustin’s tutelage, Niagara claimed the MAAC Rookie of the Year and MAAC Sixth Man of the Year last season. Faustin was recognized for her efforts by being named the MAAC Coach the Year.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my three seasons here at Niagara,” Faustin said. “I’ve been very fortunate to work with outstanding student-athletes here and I am thankful to have great leadership and support in our Athletic Director Ed McLaughlin and President Father Joseph Levesque.”
