(WKBW.com) Williamsville native , and Arizona tight end Rob Gronkowski was selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night. The Patriots moved up in a trade with the Oakland Raiders to select Gronkowski with the 42nd choice overall.
Gronkowski missed all of last season at Arizona with a back injury, but was still considered one of the top tight ends in the draft. He caught 75 passes for 1,197 yards and 16 touchdowns for the Wildcats.
Gronkowski was a three year standout at Williamsville North, before going to Pennsylvania for his senior year.
