BALTIMORE (AP) - Julius Coles' go-ahead three-point play with 43
seconds left gave Canisius a 69-67 win over Loyola, Maryland on
Monday night.
Frank Turner led the Golden Griffins (8-18, 3-13 Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference) with 23 points. Greg Logins finished with 19
points and Coles scored 16.
Canisius held a 42-34 halftime lead, but the Greyhounds (11-17,
6-10) opened the second half with a 10-0 run to take a 44-42 lead.
A 13-2 run later in the half pushed Loyola's lead to 59-48 with
7:45 remaining.
With an eight-point deficit, Loyola broke out on an 11-0 run
with less than three minutes left in the game, capped by Coles'
three-point play to put Canisius up 68-65 with 43 seconds left. The
Greyhounds had one final chance to tie, but Jamal Barney missed a
jumper at the buzzer.
Barney led the Greyhounds with 30 points and 11 rebounds.
