BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Dexter Gray scored a career-high 21 points
and grabbed six rebounds as Iona beat Canisius 57-52 Monday night
in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Gray, who was 6-of-14 from the field and 9-of-10 from the foul
line, sank a pair of free throws with 3:29 left to put Iona (11-17,
7-9 MAAC) up 50-49.
Canisius tied the score when Jovan Robinson sank one of two foul
shots before Gray put Iona ahead 52-50, sinking a jumper with 2:19
remaining. Rashon Dwight sealed the win with a 3-pointer with 0:59
left.
Greg Logins led Canisius (4-22, 2-14) with 18 points and seven
rebounds. Frank Turner scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Iona sank 15-of-19 from the foul line, but shot just 35.8
percent from the floor (19-for-53) and converted just 4-of-13
3-point shots.
Canisius, which dropped its fifth straight, shot 35.2 percent
from the field.
