Bulls Win Streak Over

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Peyton Stovall had a game-high 22 points to
lead Ball State past Buffalo, 76-67, Wednesday night in
Mid-American Conference action at Alumni Arena.
Ball State (4-19, 3-8 MAC) got 15 points from Brandon Lampley
while Anthony Newell had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Melvin Goins
scored 11 points for the Cardinals.
Calvin Betts led Buffalo (8-15, 2-9 MAC) with 12 points. Max
Boudreau and Andy Robinson added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Ball State held a 40-29 lead at halftime as Lampley, Stovall and
Newell combined for 32 points.
Buffalo opened the second half with a 8-0 run to bring the Bulls
within three, 40-37, before Ball State answered with a 17-4 to go
up 57-41.
The Bulls switched to a 1-3-1 zone defense and responded with a
9-0 run, capped by a steal and layup by Rodney Pierce at 9:24 to
make it 57-50. The defensive switch caused Ball State to go
scoreless for 5:10 before Goins made two free throws at 7:29 for a
59-50 lead. That started a 12-4 run for the Cardinals.
Buffalo eventually cut the lead to six, 73-67, on Robinson's
3-pointer with 58.4 seconds to play. Ball State closed the game by
making three of five foul shots.
