Bonnies battle, fall just short at NCAA tournament

Nashville (WKBW.com) A fantastic season for the St. Bonaventure men's basketball team came to an end on Friday night, but not without a fight. The 14th seeded Bonnies gave the heavily favored Florida State Seminoles all they could handle but came up just short in a 66-63 loss.

Florida State went on a 16-2 run in the second half to erase a 34-28 St. Bonaventure lead at the break. Seminoles forward Ian Miller hit a 3-pointer with 5:15 remaining in the game to give the Seminoles their first lead of the contest.

St. Bonaventure trailed by three but had the ball with under 10 seconds to play. Da'Quan Cook tried to cut the lead to one but missed a jumper in the lane. He grabbed the rebound, but was blocked on his second attempt instead of looking for a three to tie the game in the final seconds.

Senior Andrew Nicholson had 20 points in his final game with the Bonnies. Demetrius Conger finished with 14. St. Bonaventure finishes the season at 20-12.
