Buffalo (WKBW) It appears the Niagara Purple Eagles have a new men's head basketball coach. A source close to the program tells Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo that the school is expected to hire Chris Casey as the replacement for long-time head coach Joe Mihalich.

A spokesperson for Niagara University would not comment when contacted by Eyewitness Sports on Friday night, but says an announcement on a new head coach by the school is expected as soon as Monday.

Casey spent the last three years at LIU-Post where he led the Pioneers to a 62-25 record, and two appearances to the division two NCAA tournament. Casey also spent six seasons on the staff at St. John's.

Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com was the first to report that Casey was set to join the Purple Eagles.
