Buffalo (WKBW) Joe Mihalich's celebrated run at Niagara University is coming to an end. A source tells Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo that Mihalich will be named the next men's head basketball coach at Hofstra University. He will be introduced at a press conference scheduled for Wednesday.

A text and a phone call to Mihalich for comment was not immediately returned. Niagara Director of Athletics Tom Crowley said in an email to Eyewitness Sports that "University policy prevents me from commenting on personnel matters".

Mihalich just finished his 15th season at Niagara. He was named the MAAC coach of the year for a third time in his career after leading the Purple Eagles to a regular season championship. Mihalich is the MAAC's winningest coach. He leaves with a record of 265-203 with a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament.
