EDISON, N.J (WKBW.com) - The Niagara University men's basketball program and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2010-11 conference schedule.
Niagara begins conference play on the road at Marist on Friday, Dec. 3 and at Iona on Sunday, Dec. 5. When MAAC play resumes in January, the Purple Eagles will travel to play at Fairfield on Monday, Jan. 3.
Niagara’s first MAAC home weekend at the legendary ‘Taps’ Gallagher Center will feature games against rivals Rider (Jan. 7) and Siena (Jan. 9).
The Purple Eagles venture back on the road to play Saint Peter’s on Saturday, Jan. 15 and Manhattan on Monday, Jan. 17. Niagara will then welcome Iona and Fairfield to the ‘Taps’ Gallagher Center on Jan. 21 and 23, respectively.
Niagara will face two tough road tests the following weekend when it plays archrival Canisius on Friday, Jan. 28 and at Siena on Sunday, Jan. 30. The Purple Eagles start the month of February with a home tilt with Saint Peter’s (Feb. 4) and host Marist (Feb. 6) on Super Bowl Sunday.
NU’s final road MAAC contests are at Loyola on Feb. 11 and at Rider on Feb. 13. Niagara closes out its conference slate with three-straight home games against Canisius (Feb. 16), Loyola (Feb. 25) and against Manhattan (Feb. 27) on senior day.
The 2011 MAAC Tournament will be held from March 4-7 at the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn.
