Raleigh, NC (WKBW) It has been quite the month for basketball in Olean, but the magical run for the St. Bonaventure women's basketball team came to an end in a Sweet 16 defeat at the hands of Notre Dame.
The Lady Bonnies took on last year's National runner-up, but things were not so sweet for St. Bonaventure. Natalie Novosel had 16 points, Kalia Turner put in 14 of her own, and Kayla McBride added to the well balanced Irish attack with 10 points.
The number one seed were all over the Bonnies, leading 35-13 at halftime, and going on to win 79-35.
St. Bonaventure ends the best season in program history at 31-4, with its first NCAA tournament, first tourney win, and first ever Sweet 16.
