Buffalo (WKBW.com) Drew Stafford had a three point night, and Nathan Gerbe scored the eventual game winning goal, as the Buffalo Sabres held off the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 on Tuesday night. The win snapped a three game losing streak for the Sabres.
Buffalo broke open a 2-2 tie in the third period with a pair of goals just over two minutes apart. Drew Stafford scored his seventh of the season at 14:34, before Gerbe made it 4-2 Sabres at 16:38 with his fourth tally of the year. Corey Potter would pull Edmonton back with a goal with his third of the year at 18:10 to make it 4-3, but the Sabres were able to hold on to the victory.
Edmonton opened the scoring on Tuesday night. Taylor Hall gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead in the first period. Jason Pominville then tied things at 1 with his thirteenth goal of the season. Jordan Leopold scored the other Buffalo goal in the second period.
The Sabres are now off until Friday when they head to Carolina to take on the Hurricanes.
