Buffalo (WKBW.com) Sidney Crosby had a goal and three assists to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 5-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night. The regulation loss was the first time the Sabres failed to earn a point in 10 games, and dropped the team out of playoff spot with four games to play.
The Sabres now sit in 9th place in the Eastern Conference tied with the Washington Capitals with 86 points. The Capitals own the tie breaker in regulation-overtime wins so hold onto the 8th and final playoff spot for the time being.
Jordan Leopold, Tyler Ennis and Thomas Vanek all scored for the Sabres in the loss. The Sabres traveled directly to Toronto on Friday night. Buffalo will take on the Leafs at the Air Canada Center on Saturday.
