Buffalo (WKBW.com) The Buffalo Sabres couldn't dig out of an early hole and fell to the New Jersey Devils 5-3 on Wednesday night. Sabres goaltender Jhonas Enroth gave up 5 goals on 19 shots in his first loss of the season.
Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers was all over the ice against the Devils and scored his first two goals of the season in a losing effort. It was a bounce back performance for Myers who was benched on Monday in the first healthy scratch of his career.
The Sabres fell behind early in the first period in the worst way possible.
Buffalo gave up a shorthanded goal to Zach Parise at the 2:06 mark. Ilya Kovalchuk then scored on the power play for the Devils to put New Jersey up 2-0.
Jordan Leopold scored the other goal for the now 11-7-0 Sabres. The Sabres hit the road for Carolina on Friday
