Buffalo (WKBW.com) Jamie McGinn scored with 1.9 seconds left in the third period to force overtime, and Peter Mueller scored the lone goal in the shootout, as the Colorado Avalanche stole a critical point away from the Buffalo Sabres with a 5-4 win on Wednesday.
The loss for the Sabres spoiled a big night for Marcus Foligno. The rookie scored a pair of goals to increase his total to three tally in his first four NHL games. Drew Stafford and Alex Sulzer also scored for Buffalo.
The Sabres will get a couple of days to rest before traveling to Florida to take on the Panthers on Saturday.
