Buffalo (WKBW) It's been a long season, but Thursday night the Sabres looked like they were having fun again. Once again it was Steve Ott who sealed the victory. The gritty winger scored in the sixth round of the shoot out to help the Sabres to a 5-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at the First Niagara Center.
It wasn't easy. The Sabres had to fight back from a pair of two-goal deficits. After trailing 2-0 in the first, and 3-1 in the second, Jason Pominville tied the game at three later in the period. Pominville's tenth goal of the season came at 12:24 of the second frame. Defenseman Christian Ehrhoff then put Buffalo out in front at 4-3 with a power play goal just :22 seconds into the third period. Nazem Kadri then tied things at 4-4 with his second goal of the game for Toronto.
The game then skated through overtime and into a shootout. Tyler Bozak scored for Toronto. Drew Stafford scored for Buffalo before Ott beat James Reimer in the sixth round. Ryan Miller then stopped Clarke MacArthur at the other end to secure the victory.
Tyler Ennis and Marcus Foligno also scored for the Sabres who earned their second straight win. Buffalo heads to Montreal on Saturday.
