Helsinki, Finland (WKBW.com) Thomas Vanek scored a pair of goals, and Ryan Miller made 29 saves as the Sabres won their regular season opener 4-1 over Anaheim on Friday. The game was played in Helsinki, Finland.
New captain Jason Pominville added three points in the victory on a goal and two assists. Finland native Ville Leino also added his first goal in a Sabres uniform.
The Sabres continue their European tour with a game against Los Angeles in Berlin, Germany on Saturday.
