BUFFALO, NY - (WKBW) The Buffalo Sabres are all alone in eighth place. They defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-1 on Saturday night to take control of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Steve Kampfer scored the lone goal for the Wild in the first period.
Thomas Vanek countered for the Sabres in the second period with his 24th goal of the season.
Marcus Foligno deflected a Tyler Myers shot on the power play in the third period for the eventual game-winning goal. Cody Hodgson added a power play empty netter.
Ryan Miller made 24 saves for the win.
The Sabres now have 84 points. That's two better than the Washington Capitals. The Sabres visit the Caps on Tuesday.
