BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Jared Cowen beat Ryan Miller 45-seconds into overtime to send the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Ottawa Senators.
Milan Michalek scored his 19th goal of the season to give the Sens a 1-0 lead 1:09 into the game.
Paul Szczechura and Tyler Ennis scored late in the first period to give the Sabres a 2-1 lead.
The score would stay that way until 7:27 into the third period when Ottawa's Peter Regin tied the game on a shot from the point.
Cowen's OT winner was the Senators' 44th shot on net.
The Sabres finish their five-game homestand on Friday when they host Toronto.
