BUFFALO, NY - (WKBW) The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed defenseman Alexander Sulzer to a one-year contract. The deal is worth $725,000 according to CapGeek.com.
Sulzer was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
The 27-year-old played in 15 games for Buffalo after being acquired from Vancouver with forward Cody Hodgson at the trade deadline. Forward Zack Kassian and defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani were shipped to the Canucks in that exchange.
Sulzer scored three goals, five assists and was a plus-2 with the Sabres. He looked to form some chemistry when paired with fellow German defenseman Christian Ehrhoff.
Sulzer was a third-round draft pick of the Nashville Predators in 2003. He has also played for the Florida Panthers.
