BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Brian Rolston's third period goal proved to be the difference on Tuesday as the Buffalo Sabres lost to the New York Islanders on Tuesday 2-1.
Matt Moulson opened the scoring for the Isles in the first period, deflecting a Mark Streit shot past Jhonas Enroth on the power play.
The Islanders held a 1-0 lead until about two minutes into the third period when Jochen Hecht scored his second goal of the season for Buffalo.
Rolston poked home the game-winner 9:23 into the final period to give New York the lead for good.
Buffalo had a 5-on-3 power play for 1:34 while trailing 2-1 but failed to knot the game.
The Sabres next play Detroit, at home, on Friday.
