BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Patrice Bergeron scored a power play goal 7:52 into the third period which proved to be the difference as the Boston Bruins beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 on Sunday.
Brad Marchand opened the scoring in the second period. Buffalo's Tyler Ennis tied the game with 1:59 let in the frame.
After Bergeron's goal gave Boston a 2-1 lead in the third period, Milan Lucic tallied an empty net goal to round out the scoring.
The Bruins went 1-5 on the power play. Buffalo was 0-3.
Ryan Miller kept his team in the game for much of the night. The Sabres goalie stopped 36 shots.
Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers was a healthy scratch for a second straight game. Defenseman T.J. Brennan and center Mikhail Grigorenko also watched from the press box.
Blueliner Robyn Regehr returned to the lineup after missing seven games with a lower body injury.
The Sabres next visit Ottawa on Tuesday.
