Buffalo (WKBW.com) The NHL handed Sabres forward Ville Leino a one-game suspension on Thursday night for his elbowing incident in Wednesday's loss to Philadelphia.
Leino elbowed Flyers forward Matt Read in the head in the third period of the Sabres 5-4 overtime loss. He will not play Friday against Florida. Leino had a phone discipline hearing with the NHL on Thursday afternoon. It is his first career suspension.
