Buffalo (WKBW.com) Veteran defenseman Robyn Regehr is coming to Buffalo. Regehr's agent J.P. Barry confirmed to Eyewitness Sports early Saturday morning that the blueliner has waived his no-movement clause with the Calgary Flames and has accepted a trade to the Sabres.
" The GM and the owner of Buffalo did an excellent job of explaining the opportunity.", said Barry. "Robyn simply needed some time to reflect on everything and decided late tonight that he would waive to go to Buffalo.", Barry continued.
Regier played in 826 regular season games for the Flames. Last year the 31-year old finished with 17 points and a plus-2 rating in 79 games.
TSN reported that former Sabres Ales Kotalik was part of the deal and would be returning to Buffalo. No official word from the Sabres at this point on what the organization traded in return. It's not believed the full deal would be completed until later Saturday. Stay tuned to Eyewitness Sports for more details.
