CLEVELAND (AP) - Pitcher Cliff Lee was one of four players added to the Cleveland Indians roster from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.
Pitcher Mike Koplove and outfielder Ben Francisco also were recalled, while the contract of infielder Luis Rivas was purchased.
Lee won 46 games from 2003-05, but has had a difficult season.
The left-hander's problems began in spring training when he strained a right abdominal muscle. He struggled when he returned, going 5-8 with a 6.38 ERA in 16 starts before being sent down on July 27.
Lee was 1-3 with a 3.51 ERA in eight starts at Buffalo. He will be used out of the bullpen.
Koplove also will be used in the bullpen. He had no record and a 4.50 ERA in three games during a previous stint with the Indians. The right-hander was 4-2 with 14 saves and a 2.38 ERA in 50 appearances at Buffalo.
Francisco has been with the Indians on two previous occasions, batting .273 with three homers and seven RBIs in 17 games. Francisco hit .318 with 12 homers, 51 RBIs and 22 stolen bases at Buffalo.
Rivas has spent the entire season at Buffalo, where he hit .263 with 11 homers, 43 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. He can play second base and shortstop.
