INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (Bisons.com) - A two-out double by Chris Barnwell drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as the Indians dropped the Herd, 4-3, from Victory Field on Monday night.
The Bisons split the four-game set with Indianapolis and went 3-5 overall on their eight-game road trip.
Tagg Bozied led off the eighth inning with a double and was still at second with two outs after two line outs to center field that Jesus Feliciano was able to handle. Barnwell drove a 1-1 pitch to left field off Herd reliever Arturo Lopez that scored Bozied and gave the I-Tribe the 4-3 lead.
The Bisons tied the game at three in the top of the eighth. Feliciano led off the inning with a double to right and moved to third on a ground out to the right side by Nick Evans. Rene Rivera followed with a single through the hole at shortstop that scored Feliciano and evened the game at three.
The Bisons scored their first two runs via the wild pitch. In the fourth inning, Indians starter Tom Gorzelanny sent one to the backstop with Rivera hitting after an Evans triple to lead off the frame. In the seventh, after Jeremy Powell replaced Gorzelanny, Powell let one get away that scored Josh Peterson, who ignited a two-out rally with a single.
Argenis Reyes hit a pinch-hit double with two out in the ninth that put the tying run in scoring position, but Green struck out on a slider in the dirt to end the ballgame.
Kyle Snyder got his second start in a row for the Herd and went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and six strikeouts.
The Bisons return to Coca-Cola Field on Tuesday night to open up a four-game series against the Pawtucket Red Sox. All-Star Nelson Figueroa is scheduled to make the start against Junichi Tuzawa.
