Louisville, KY- (Bisons.com) The Bats just kept coming.
Louisville scored a run in five consecutive innings Monday night to defeat the Bisons, 5-1, at Louisville Slugger Field. Former Bison Darnell McDonald homered as part of a nine-hit Bats attack that handed the Herd their second straight defeat.
The string of rallies came after the Bisons took a 1-0 lead on Chip Ambres' RBI-double in the third inning. Four of the runs came at the expense of Buffalo starter Lance Broadway, who fell to 2-6 on the year.
A two-out chopper to the mound in the third inning got the Bats on the scoreboard as pitcher Justin Lehr scored on Chris Heisey's infield single. Chris Valaika homered in the fourth inning for the lead and Kevin Barker's sac fly made it 3-1 in the fifth.
Alex Gonzalez singled home a fourth Louisville run in the sixth inning and McDonald's homer off reliever Eddie Kunz capped the scoring in the seventh inning.
Lehr earned the win for Louisville with eight innings of work. He is now 12-3 on the year, with four more wins than any other pitcher in the league.
Before the game, Buffalo's top pitcher was also honored. Nelson Figueroa, a teammate of Lehr's on the International League All-Star Team, was named IL Pitcher of the Week for his complete game shutout against Toledo over the weekend.
