The score was almost secondary as the Bisons wrapped up their eight-game homestand with an 8-4 loss to Syracuse Friday night.
It was Brian Dux night at Dunn Tire Park, as the team sold merchandise throughout the game to support the Brian Dux Assist Fund. An Orchard Park native and former Canisius basketball star, Dux was seriously injured in a car accident in England in November. Dux was at the ballpark Friday, and was on the field before the game, shaking hands with Bisons players and manager Torey Lovullo.
The emotion seemed to help the Herd at the start of the game. Ryan Mulhern hit his first home run of the year to give the Bisons a 1-0 lead in the second. But Syracuse came right back when Russ Adams hit a three-run blast in the top of the third. Hector Luna added a two-run blast in the fifth as the Chiefs went on to sweep the four-game set.
The struggling Bisons will look to bounce back on the road when they start a three-game set in Pawtucket Saturday.
