Jorge Velandia snapped a two-all tie with a two-run homer in the top of the eighth to lead the Syracuse Chiefs to a 4-2 win over the Bisons Wednesday afternoon at Dunn Tire Park.

The Chiefs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in search of their second straight victory over the Herd. The home team tied the game on a two-run double by Aaron Herr in the bottom of the fourth, one of just two hits on the day for Buffalo. Three Syracuse pitchers combined to shut the Herd down, while Scott Elarton gave up the eighth-inning homer to Velandia and took the loss for Buffalo.

The Bisons will look to get back in the win column when they continue the series with the Chiefs Thursday afternoon at Dunn Tire Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05pm.
