Fresh off a shutout win Saturday, the Bisons gave up 13 hits as Toledo pounded their way to a 6-4 win at Dunn Tire Park Sunday afternoon.
Brent Clevlen and Matt Joyce each homered as the Mud Hens took a 5-1 lead, and the Herd's comeback attempts ran into some bad luck. In the bottom of the sixth, Ryan Mulhern lined one to right, Jason Cooper lost a shoe trying and was thrown out trying to reach third. Then, after closing to within 6-4, Ben Francisco's shot to left hit the wall, just missing what would have been a game-tying home run. Francisco did go 3-4, and Mulhern finished 2-4 with an RBI.
Matt Ginter took the loss for the Bisons, giving up five runs on nine hits in five and two-thirds innings of work. The save two teams are back at it Monday afternoon at Dunn Tire Park, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05pm.
